Hoax : Pin Number Reversal

[Seems like this is a HOAX, i guess it’s still worth to pass this word around ]

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcast on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don’t know it exists.

( Please pass this along , if you think its worth it)

  1. this is great if it works…but what if the pin number is 6666 or 2332?

  2. u can google and find that this is the idea patented by someone in US and offered to allow banks to use it for free. But since the risk of such ATM robberies is lower to warrant any expense on such innovation banks are reluctant to do that.

  3. Sorry to say,… found to be false…

  4. • Vyzasatya if it were true then I guess we could have used a non-Palindrome
    • Krishna thanks a lot for proving this a hoax
    • I myself usually check the hoaxes & reply to the chain emails, I guess I was too busy to do it this time. I guess I need to push this post into the category of Hoaxes

  5. Why don’t people realize that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

  6. As an employee of a bank, I can unequivically state, that if you try this, first the transaction will be rejected, and second, the police will NOT be notified
